Being in the spotlight does something to many people; it creates self-awareness.
It focuses you to edit yourself, improve and present your best. In life, exposure to new things can be a great experience. They help you see the world as your stage, when you strive to put your best foot forward.
There are currently young girls everywhere already seeing the world as a stage when preparing for a pageant.
Pageants have been around since the 1920s, and since then they have grown and expanded in many ways. There are an immense variety of pageants from Missouri Coed, Miss America, Miss USA and Miss Universe, down to a Little Miss Glitz pageant.
Some people may be familiar with some of these pageants from television. But when they watch them, are people really paying attention to the talent and knowledge displayed?
The answer is most likely, no. Instead we focus our attention on the drop-dead-gorgeous teen and mid twenty aged women walking in swimsuits and evening gowns; looking perfect, walking perfect, and speaking perfect.
But times have emerged from the traditional form of pageants to fun and fancy for younger girls. Now little ones starting as young as four years old participate in pageants such as
Little Miss Glitz mentioned above.
Many people think that the pageant world for younger children is a form of child abuse, too much for them to grasp and takes the fun away from them.
But I totally disagree. I think that pageants give these young ladies character, courage and early exposure to different etiquettes such as pose, composure, interview skills, and speaking skills.
Others think that the parents of the children are forcing young girls to do it because it’s a dream of their own. But that’s not always the case.
These daring mothers are just overwhelmed and excited themselves that they want their little girls to be the best and look the best.
In addition, I feel that what people don’t realize is it’s about little girls having fun. So, the mothers unintentionally get a little too snappy about what they want their little girls to do and look like.
To conclude I think that loads of make up is a little too much, but I would completely allow for my future daughter to experience a pageant while she’s young, so she can test the waters.
